If you have to adj a few.001th of an inch it will not make much of a difference. But it sure gives you peace of mind. Then again at the other extreme if if you have one of those heads where the valve seat sinks into the head, then a fraction of a.001' will make the difference between burning a valve or not. I do believe that is all it takes hypothetically. What if you by poor luck end up with one of the heads out of 10,000 where the valve seat treatment done to prevent valves from sinking into the head was improperly done Or not done as good as it should have been in 1 out of every 500 heads.
Do you feel lucky??? That is how things go in the commercial market or worse at times. I do not really know but 1: 500 failures might be the best that can potentially be done in some problem areas. That is not that terrible a failure rate and maybe even a good one based on what I have seen on the suspension. Unless it happens to you! For those that are interested, we had someone post a VERY detailed set of instructions on how to adjust the valves on an Element.

I don't know but it seems too me that the Element guys give a lot less resistance to doing the valve adjustment. I guess everyone has a different opinion. C'est la vie!
I am not going to be the one paying for the valve job! Ironically I have not yet figured out how too get at the valves! As I cannot reach!
The CR-V is too high for me to get to it. When the time comes in another two years I must concoct some platform or take the air out of the tires so as to I can get to it. Looking at the Element engine pictures it makes me want to check them early. I do not want to miss out on all the fun!
