Interior Style and Features The overall design of the sedan models is much more modern, and buyers have their choice between a wide variety of seat and paneling colors plus trim pieces made of wood, anthracite and brushed aluminum to create a much more customized look for the interior of their 3 Series. The sedans’ controls are fairly small yet surprisingly easy to use while driving thanks to a highly intuitive layout. Of course quite a few functions are performed with the iDrive system, which remains controversial among drivers.
Taking the time to learn the system provides a high level of rewards, while not learning it well makes performing the tasks a frustrating practice. Comfort is high in the BMW 3 Series, including the base model seats that provide support and cushioning sufficient for even long drives. The upgraded sports seats available in some options packages are just that much more comfortable.
Whether you go with a sedan, coupe or convertible, the backseat area is one of the largest in the car’s class, meaning you can haul around people and not just luggage in the rear. Trunk space in the sedan is decent at 13 cubic feet, dropping down to 11 cubic feet in the coupe. Overall Assessment If you are looking for a great entry-level car for long-distance driving, you cannot beat the smooth delivery of the BMW 3 Series. With the new steering setup for the car the driver does not receive as much feedback, which will be disappointing to driving enthusiasts. With and seat protectors on the surface of the, the are a bit difficult to fasten. Back-of-seat pockets are virtually unusable, hard to get into, hold very little. No convenient place to put a handbag without it falling over visible/distracting to driver when lit button must be held for to open (does not open fully on a tap or brief hold of the button) If are folded when in drive, and then the car is parked, then the car is restarted and the are unfolded while the car is moving in reverse (typical use with a narrow ), the right sometimes remains in the downward tilted position after the car is put in drive again—workaround seems to be to keep the adjustment switch to the left or to keep the folded in until the car is in Drive. Hatch drips water on operator when it is opened with rain/water on it. Very unpleasant. Gap between hood and body of car at sides is directly visible to driver (angle could be improved to provide a more solid appearance). Does not re-route properly due to traffic—often re-routes or fails to re-route due to outdated traffic information.
Time estimates do not properly account for traffic delays. System quotes one time at start of trip, then later, when heavy traffic is encountered, simply stops deducting time from the estimate as you sit. I use Google on my phone instead.
However, the setting for Google to output directions over to the car speakers seems to apply ONLY when making a phone call over. Took a while to figure out the multimedia system.
Sliding tie-downs in the sometimes get in the way, and make it difficult to use a protective mat. Front cupholders do not have sufficient vertical clearance to properly seat larger cups. Lately (after 4000 miles) the seems to shudder slightly when stopping (not turning off) at and again when resuming motion.

It is fun to drive, and loaded with that makes my driving experience safer, more convenient, and more enjoyable. I wanted a replacement wagon for my totalled Volvo V50 (I was a dedicated Volvo owner for life), but I settled for the BMW GT, because it offered almost the same amount of, with more for my children, but was several inches smaller than the Mercedes E350 or Volvo XC70 wagons. I test drove, but did not seriously consider, the Volvo V60, because of the —the same that pushed my posture out of alignment for years in my V50.
My BMW lacks some of the thoughtful engineering of the Volvo line (e.g. Carefully placed rear - that do not cause glare for the driver, ample, cupholders that accommodate oversized cups, integrated child, physical controls that are easy to see and reach and that keep the driver's eyes off the road). There are a few bugs in the software in my car (e.g. That don't always return to position after reversing if they have been folded in, -off staying on after you restart the car sometimes, and errors that have cost me a little time). The seat-back pockets are COMPLETELY UNUSABLE, so I have purchased organizers for my children.
I love the MPG visual gauge, the foot control of the, the height adjustment for the, the adjustable, and the. I don't love the hard for long drives, but the is excellent. The is questionable—my car has MANY small scratches on it after only six weeks of use. I expected a more durable finish for a.

Anthracite driver's has a 1/4' dia blemish.Front has an internal 3' scratch.: 1) Driver's is too far from the centerline of the driver's seat and positioned too far forward for 5' 10' tall person (average size male), which requires driver's left arm to be extended too far To have lasting. 2) Wind turbulence outside of driver's after reaching 60 MPH (probably doe to poor aerodynamic on the driver's side-view ) creates and causes irritation to driver: Primary support beam location on driver's side can be a visual obstruction for 1) oncoming traffic when driving through a sharp left-hand curve or 2) when the vehicle is stopped at a stop-sign or stop- because it can block sightline of pedestrians crossing from left to right in a crosswalk. Literature, product and operating instructions: There is almost no detail for understanding the combinations of using suspension with normal shifting mode vs. With normal shifting mode vs.
Suspension with shifting mode vs. Shifting mode. Through trial and error I have been able to understand that the suspension mode affects the shift points in the plus the stiffness of the suspension and that the mode (normal or ) affects the shift points of of the, but I cannot fully understand the difference between the four combinations without seeing a chart that fully explains what to expect from each of the combinations. Also, if the is in, will it shift into 7th and 8th gear or are these gears reserved only for overdrive while in the normal shifting mode? In summary, there is very little information how to properly operate this vehicle with regard to the various combinations of drive train options in concert with suspension options. Final comments: 1) I think this vehicle is just a little too wide and perhaps a little too long because much of the feel of a is now lost.
The 2016 328i is a and no longer a. 2) Maybe I should have been more careful and made sure my model was manufactured in Germany instead of South Africa even though the drive train was manufactured in Germany.
Maybe then I would have been more satisfied with the 'fit and finish' of the vehicle. We love our BMW 330i Sports Wagon and are very satisfied with our lease., versatility, and even in inclement weather have matched or exceeded our expectations. Our only disappointment lies with and the 270-degree view parking. Become painfully on long trips, and it is inexcusable that BMW did not develop 360-degree coverage for the expensive driver assistance package, as it is a that its competitors (ex.
Infiniti) have been offering since 2007. I hope that and the smoothness of the start/stop function can be improved with the next 3 Series generation. I also hope that the next 3 Series will have better, as our, though precise, has no road feedback and makes the driving experience very numb. However, I am happy to see that improvements to BMW are being made with the new 5 Series including 360-degree for parking assistance packages, and expect that our next 3 Series would be available with this.

Further, I can never find the correct because the seat base does not tilt far enough up in the front. We have also had a lot of issues with the Apple CarPlay, as if the program was rushed into production, as we have had dozens of pairing issues and have had to cycle our and the car off and on multiple times to get it to work. Another that we are extremely disappointed in is the 270-degree on the car. For a near $60,000 car, it is inexcusable to not offer 360-degree capability, as this has been available on other brands, and on much cheaper cars, for a relatively long time (our friends' 2008 Infiniti EX35, for example, has a far superior around-car than our 2017 BMW 330i). In contrast to our critical comments on this vehicle, it does have great versatility, the is fairly good, and the fit and finish of the vehicle is very good. Though there are flaws that we would like to have addressed, we would likely lease or buy this vehicle again - this would also be dependent on long-term of mechanical and.

The evolution from the E9x was a welcome change, however there is a noticeable decrease in the and craftsmanship. The plastics used for the lower half of the center column and are something I would associate with a Dodge product (this is not a compliment). In the E9x series, the plastics, hinges and felts used were very impressive and pleasant to the touch. They were think and well made.
There are also noticeable gaps between the and the B-pillars. I can see the white pain of the in the gap that is almost 1/2' wide.
It looks cheap. The pieces need more choices and better choices. Competitors such as Audi (and lesser brands even) have nice matte wood trim with grain. This should be an. The HK in my previous E92 was fantastic and part of the reason I spent for the HK in my F30.
However the new F30 HK system is much worse and not worth the price. It cannot lows and highs anymore. I do not know if BMW changed the speakers, but it is nowhere close to the E9x's HK system. When giving advice online to other prospective buyers I discourage from paying for the HK system in the F30.
It needs fixed. Base that I hear in loaner cars like something from a 1998 Malibu. It is truly atrocious. Continue to refine the adjustable.
I know companies are still trying to find the sweet spot, but even with the track package it is quite artificial in feel. Benchmark for a brand such as BMW who touts their cars as 'the ultimate driving machine' needs to be Porsche. You don't have to compete on everything, but driving dynamics have fallen off with the F3x model. Base model and amenities need dramatic improvement given the price point. There are Hyundais that offer far more even in sub $25k models. I wanted a wagon and lucky for BMW they are about the only ones who still make true wagons (the stupid and ugly GT does not count).
If Audi still made regular wagons (not that all/off road thing) I probably wouldn't have bought the F3x. I opted for the driving school delivery. I loved this. I do with that it was a little longer, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

You guys are slipping. Weird choices (the GT) and the splitting of models further and further makes little sense and is confusing. Have dropped off as well as driving dynamics. Get your bleep together. Several problems and its only been about 3 months. I have gotten the chassis stabilization warning more than once, but its gone away.
The whole bottom part of the panel turned on and off several times while driving (as if I turned the car off and then on), but the car was on and moving. I even recorded it. I got the belt warning when no passenger was in the car and nothing was on the seat. It even happened on the rental I had before I bought this car. I had to clip the belt with no one in it so it would stop beeping! Speakers should be better for the price of the car, it seems like Hondas have comparable speakers, but they are much less expensive. Do you really think its safe for me to look down on the lower part of the instrument panel when driving to see which the is changing it to? WHY DOESN'T IT CHANGE IT AND SHOW IT ON THE IDRIVE SCREEN? The instrument panel and don't work well together. No matter how high or low the is, it blocks a small part of the instrument panel. It would have been a really simple fix if you guys did some proper research and development.

Also frustrating that it doesn't allow some functions while driving even with a passenger to execute. I sure would like to have a vice.

Finally, it would be nice if vents catching outside air didn't warm the air so much. I often just want fresh air when it is 60 or 65 degrees out and the car always seems to warm up w/o AC on. The knob itself isn't the issue, but rather the way you must navigate through menus. I thought it would improve as I got more familiar with it but the frustration has only grown. Several you don't use that often are not intuitive and I spend time with car running in the garage trying to figure it out. Some can't be executed while driving even by the passenger. This could easily be fixed. I have also had to reset the at least four times.
I don't know why it goes 'away' on me. The refresh works, but it is a nuisance and usually happens at most inopportune times. The also took a while to figure out. I am very with my and iPad and have often given up on the car one to pull out my and navigate that way.
Overall we are delighted with the BMW wagon, but we strongly suggest blind-spot detection as a standard. I very much miss blind-spot detection which was on our Audi Allroad. It was an extra layer of. I sold the 530 because of the iDrive problems and got the 535. I had problems with that car too, tho not quite as often.
This week, after starting the car, the did not come on, even after 20 min. After I got to my location, I turned off the car and waited a few minutes and started it again. This time, the did come on. Overall very satisfied. My only disappointments are: 1.
/ is not as amazing as my previous BMW (a 2006 330i)- and this is what drew me to BMW in the first place.Its just not as fun to drive without this /. The range on all electric in this plug in is significantly less than initially advertised which was about 24 miles. It actually gets about 17 miles without using the, (but this is more than the actual EPA rating which was 14 miles) Nevertheless, for me, the range is just enough, and it makes sense for the driving I do, because I only drive about 15 miles to work round trip. Since I last filled my, I have travelled over 800 miles on 4 gallons of, which is amazing.
But if my commute were farther, or I drove more on weekends, my would be much less. So it really depends on how you drive this car. I also wonder why there has been absolutely no advertising for this car on TV, magazines, newspapers or elsewhere? The 328i is an excellent, well- and executed car, but it has lost much of the character and involvement that once made it so fun to drive. If I take the long way home it's because I want to, not because the car beckons. I don't care much for beyond what amounts to a well designed and executed car, and for the sake of being seen by others is vulgar. I want a driver's machine with excellent road dynamics, which the current car has, but that also has a sense of connectedness with the driver, which the current car lacks.

In particular the rain-sensing were not sensitive enough, even in their most sensitive setting. The is definitely improved and now properly weighted, but it still lacks the feel a should have. Also, the 2.0 liter seems artificial. It's a nice, but it doesn't like a 4-.
That creates some 'distance' between the car and the driver, which is undesirable. Regarding aesthetics, the whole (DRLs) thing is out of control on many vehicles (not just BMW). It has become a game of one-upmanship to the point of looking pretentious at best and ridiculous at worst.
I like the idea of DRLs, but unfortunately I feel compelled to turn them off, which compromises my a bit. A BMW carries enough cachet without the 'angel eyes,' which are just showing off to my taste. I am disappointed with the lack of a dipstick to oil, and drain plug for the front and rear differentials, the recent decision to decrease the warranty and maintenance on all 2017 vehicles. I will always own, drive, and be an advocate for BMWs. However, to remain competitive in the automotive world, I believe that BMW should continue to embrace it's heritage. They've done a great job of this so far, but continuing to bring back cues and cars that stand out stylistically will be of utmost importance in the future. Also, standard equipment needs to be revisited. The automotive landscape is changing.
Even cheap Korean cars offer LED, systems, and as standard while BMW still charges extra. This needs to change, or at least change the model structure.
You can still offer a bare bones model such as the 320i but on a 328 xi such as mine, I'd really like the options I want to be standard. The single most important to me is the (Name-Kardon), followed by the LED, and the red.

Please note, I could not love this car more. I had the 2013 335xi, and that car was good. This 340xi is far superior. The difference is unbelievable. I love the driving experience of this car every second.
BMW wagon is great, but a few nits: (1) rear visibility is not great, especially for a wagon. Our 2002 Saab 9-5 wagon has much better rear visibility and in that regard is much safer to drive.
(2) and is fine, but a steep learning curve and not intuitive, especially compared to today's, computers, and other devices. Would be better to simply use or integrate 's commands so no need to learn a whole new interface. For instance, searching for a place without knowing the address took a long time to figure out (have to ask for 'points of interest.'
(3) The car needs to come with more. Included in many lower priced cars (e.g., rear-, collision warning/avoidance).
(4) Car would be nearly perfect if a was offered-it's a for goodness sake! (5) While the feels great, it is nearly impossible to view all of the information on the through the relatively small openings. Causes me to take my eyes off the road.

I am still struggling with some of the aspects of the car, but that is on me as I have not found time to go back to the dealer to have my questions/issues addressed. The only thing I hate (I mean hate!) about the car are the and lack of a spare. At 1,501 miles, I had two that had to be replaced (normal /tubes could have been repaired) at a cost of $563. Fortunately, I was covered by my & Protection Contract.
My wife and I enjoy doing road-trips but there is no way I am taking my BMW on a road trip!! At the very least, I believe BMW should offer the of and a spare and to heck with the weight/ penalty. Most everything about the BMW is as expected with that brand-however some of the warning system is not quite what we expected.
For example-if I cross a lane marker without activating the direction signals, there is only a very slight vibration on the. This is so slight at times I don't notice it or think it just a minor flaw in the road surface. In my previous Cadillac ATS the warning signal for a was a rather strong vibration in the seat. If I crossed lane marker on right, then I felt the strong vibration on the right side of buttocks-and naturally a left buzz with the left. I also feel that the could do a better job of 'seeing' to the right and left a bit to help in backing out of parking spaces in for example supermarket lots.
Invariably there is a large SUV beside me and it can be very difficult to guess whether another vehicle is coming until it is right behind. Gorgeous car, which I love, but there are a few issues that really annoy me on a daily basis. First, the placement of the in the middle of the is absurd. It requires me to reach over the seat (and sometimes other people) having to push the button when I don't have my on me (which is often). Why can't the button be on the driver/? Second, the 'kick underneath to open' the function just doesn't work.
It takes ten or more times to try to open. I've given up and just used my (which I sometimes don't have when the car is unlocked and I'm the garage). Third, the are a joke. For my car with a, I can't use them or reach my drink while driving on the highway as I can't use fifth gear, as the drink gets stuck in place by the. Like a said, gorgeous car, but just a couple engineering glitches that are irritating on a daily basis.
Fun to drive for a relatively large sedan. The hatchback is super handy and very easy to use. The room is excellent. Power is good and the is acceptable for the amount of. Panorama makes a seem even larger. Good stereo for the price of the car. And interface is very easy to use once you get past a short learning curve - also the BMW app is very useful for sending destinations to the car as well as remote locking.
Overall a very good package if you want a powerful mid-size hatchback that is fun to drive and has excellent and practical. Picked up the car at the factory in Germany. Very, very great experience.
